Research has demonstrated that practice tests do not improve student
learning and fail to raise test scores substantially. It is the data
that formative assessments provide that leads to increased student
achievement. In order for this data to be actionable and effective,
teachers must be able to understand it and use it in the classroom.
Each ThinkLink report is color coded and very easy to understand.
Reports identify Mastery for each student for each objective. Proficiency
predictions are provided for Reading, Mathematics, and Language Arts
for each student. A Growth Score is provided to help monitor student
Adequate Yearly Progress. Teachers and administrators have access
to the reports online via a password protected account.
For Summative/Formative tests, every teacher receives a set of reports
for each class:
- Class Summary with results for the entire class.
- Student Report provides mastery level by objective for every
student.
- Objective Report provides an item analysis showing the difficulty
level of each item as well as the state CRT and national NRT objective
and sub-skill.
- Student Subskill Report shows mastered subskills as uniquely
defined by each state.
- Answers Report details the answer for every item for every student.
- Student proficiency levels match the state's cut-offs defined
in the No Child Left Behind state plan identifying the state-specific
proficiency levels.
- Comparison Report shows the progress by objective over the course
of the year.
- Grade-wide summary is provided for each grade tested in the
school.
- Individual Student report is designed to encourage student and
parent involvement.
Administrative reports are available to allow a snapshot of data summarized
at the school level showing the percent of students demonstrating
mastery by grade and by subject. There is also an ability to compare
summary data by grade and by school across multiple schools. The design
of these reports uses formative testing to guide instruction and curricular
approaches at a macro level and identify more systemic issues in student
performance.
ThinkLink Learning's reports include the number and percent correct
on specific components as well as a prediction of proficiency based
on published state-specific student data for each reporting category.
ThinkLink Learning will provide the reporting functionality including
number correct, percent correct, proficiency and mastery results by
reporting category, grade level, teacher, school, and district including
summaries at each level. Growth scores will be provided for each testing
administration by child, class, grade within a school and grade within
the district. To the degree that demographic information is accurate
and available, data is disaggregated.
ThinkLink reports present test results that allow teachers and administrators
to transform data to information, information to knowledge, and knowledge
to action.
